In a 2-1 vote, the Long Beach Public Safety Committee passed a motion on Jan. 31 to request the full Long Beach City Council to direct the city manager to prepare a multi-year police academy and recruitment plan to be presented to the Council at the beginning of the March discussion process. Fifth District Councilmember Gerrie Schispke, who voted against the move, referred to the motion as just another “feel-good thing” and not an action item. [Read more →]
