Signal Hill Council hears from Day Laborer Committee

By Joseph Serna, Staff Writer The Signal Hill City Council heard from the Day Laborer Committee, a group formed nearly a year ago to address resident’s concerns over the day laborers by the Cherry Avenue Home Depot. “We basically put together a strategy we think is defensible,” City Manager Ken Farfsing told the Council.

St. Mary Medical Center volunteers honored for many hours of service

St. Mary Medical Center honored its volunteers at its Annual Volunteer Luncheon. The hospital volunteers in combination gave more than 85,000 hours of service to the hospital last year. “We couldn’t operate the hospital without the loyal volunteers,” said Chris DiCicco, hospital president. “They are a great asset to our medical center.”
