Long Beach Airport awarded over $6 million in FAA grants

Long Beach Airport (LGB) announced Monday the receipt of two United States Department of Transportation grants totaling $6.1 million. The award comes through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and will fund two key airfield improvements and an Airfield Geometry Study. The new awards bring total 2011 FAA funding to $8.1 million.

Officer involved in dog-related shooting

On Monday, October 10, 2011, at approximately 7:30pm, officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to a dispute in the 1900 block of Pine Avenue between two parties over a loose pit bull in the neighborhood, which resulted in the shooting of the dog.
