On Saturday, June 11, at approximately 4am, Signal Hill Police Department officers apprehended two suspects in connection with a burglary at the 2700 block of Walnut Avenue, the designated location of the new Signal Hill Police Station, which is currently under construction.
During early morning hours, patrol officers discovered the construction site unsecure when they saw that the front gate was completely open. While they searched the lot for possible suspects, officers saw a pick-up truck without its headlights on fleeing the area through a dark alley.
Officers made an attempt to stop the vehicle and investigate further when a brief pursuit ensued. Ultimately, the suspects stopped their vehicle and were taken into custody without further incident. Inside the bed of the truck officers discovered and recovered approximately $30,000 worth of construction equipment, bolt cutters, tire irons, gloves and other tools associated with burglary crimes.
The suspects remain in custody. Anyone with further information regarding this crime is urged to contact Signal Hill Police detectives at (562) 989-7220. ß
