On Sunday, June 26, at 2:20am, Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a residence located in the 1900 block of Cherry Avenue. Officers arrived at the location to find numerous people holding a then-unidentified man, wearing only underwear, down on the ground.
The resident at the location reported to officers that he had heard unusual noises coming from his daughter’s room and went in to check on her, which led to the discovery of the unknown man lying in bed with her. The resident said he immediately grabbed the man out of his daughter’s bed, sending his 15-year-old son to a neighbor’s house for assistance. The neighbor arrived, and both men wrestled with the suspect until SHPD officers arrived, and placed the man under arrest.
Officers investigated and determined the suspect, who told officers he was only looking for a place to sleep, was intoxicated and possibly under the influence of an unknown narcotic. A press release issued Tuesday revealed the man’s identity as 24-year-old Sergio Osuna.
The female juvenile was not harmed in the incident. It was determined that the suspect entered the residence by reaching through an open front window to unlock the front door.
