Leslie Elzinga, owner of Orange Ave Estate, says she wants to provide the community with a place to shop in harmony with the neighborhood.

Orange Ave Estate Salvage and Garden, Cal Heights’ only green store, will host its grand opening Saturday, Aug. 27 from 11am to 6pm at 3414 Orange Ave.
The new store features more than 2,500 square feet of estate collectables, repurposed furniture and jewelry, vintage clothing and pottery, salvaged doors, windows and hardware, and California native plants. Everything in the store is made in the U.S. or is vintage, antique, natural, green, recycled and/or repurposed.
With her business in the heart of the historic areas of California Heights, Signal Hill, and Bixby Knolls, the store’s owner, Leslie Elzinga, says she wants to provide the community with a place to shop in harmony with the neighborhood.
“I am hoping to provide education to customers who may not realize the potential of many items or the beauty of native plants, as well as provide repurposed, vintage and recycled merchandise,” she said. “Many homeowners are converting their yards to drought-tolerant California native plants and, in doing so, must drive as far as Sun Valley or San Juan Capistrano to acquire many native plants.”
