Barbershop Holiday Show
The Bellflower/Long Beach Elks Club is having its first Barbershop Holiday Show on Friday, Nov 30 at 7:30 p.m. The show will feature the Orange Empire Chorus and Quartets and will take place at their lodge, located at 16426 Bellflower Boulevard in Bellflower. 8th District Tree Planting
The 8th District Youth Advisory Council invites the public to help out the community by planting a tree with them on Saturday, Dec. 1. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the 300 block of 49th Street in Long Beach, just west of Scherer Park. Wrigley Association Christmas Party
The Wrigley Association is kicking off the holiday season with its annual Christmas party and potluck on Monday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Veteran’s Park Social Hall. The event is open to the public and will include food donated by restaurant owners and merchants as well as a video presentation of the association’s activities over the last year. Assembly Candidate’s Forum
The Bixby Knolls Christian Church will host a candidate forum Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. for those seeking to be elected as the 55th California Assembly District representative. The four candidates scheduled to appear are Mike Gipson, Mervin Evans, Charlotte Gipson and Herb Peters. Community Health Lecture
On Wednesday, Dec. 5, Community Hospital of Long Beach will be having a health lecture entitled The Super Bug, MRSA. The lecture is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be presented by infection control officer William M. Reeder. Admission is free, and reservations are required. Community Hiking Trip

The Long Beach Group of the Sierra Club invites the public to join them Saturday, Dec. 8 for a hiking trip that is designed for beginners. The 5.5-mile hike takes place at 9 a.m. near the recycling center at Cal State Long Beach. The route will go along Winter Creek trail from Chantry Flat picnic area to Hoegees campground. A packed lunch is recommended along with 2 quarts of water and comfortable footwear.

Chamber Holiday Party and Toy Drive
The Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the holidays with a fun-filled party on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Signal Hill Community Center. The event will have a traditional turkey meal, a variety show, opportunity drawing and a toy collection for the Salvation Army’s toy drive. Hearing Loss Association Meeting

The Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is having a meeting Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. The association is a support group that offers education on coping skills and resources to help the hearing impaired. The HLAA meets monthly at the Weingart Senior Center, located at 5220 Olivia Avenue in Lakewood. For further information, call (562) 433-6509.
