WANA Holiday Party
WANA, the lead Wrigley neighborhood group for Daisy Avenue Christmas Tree Lane, is celebrating its first Christmas. Members of the public are invited to attend a holiday party tonight at 7 p.m. in the Jackie Robinson Academy Cafetorium located at 2750 Pine Avenue behind the Wrigley Marketplace. Admission and parking are free. Community Hiking Trip
The Long Beach Group of the Sierra Club invites the public to join them Saturday, Dec. 8 for a hiking trip designed for beginners. The 5.5-mile hike begins at 9 a.m. near the recycling center at Cal State Long Beach. The route will travel along Winter Creek Trail from Chantry Flat picnic area to Hoegees campground. A packed lunch is recommended along with 2 quarts water and comfortable footwear.
Community Coffee with Rae Gabelich
Join 8th District Council Member Rae Gabelich Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Avila’s El Ranchito. Gabelich, along with special guest Commander Billy Quach of the Long Beach Police Department, will host a Community Coffee, an informal discussion about issues affecting the community. Chamber Holiday Party and Toy Drive
The Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the holidays with a party on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Signal Hill Community Center. The event will have a traditional turkey meal, a variety show, an opportunity drawing and a toy collection for the Salvation Army’s toy drive. Grief Support Lecture

Hearing Loss Association Meeting
The Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) will have a meeting Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. The support group offers education on coping skills and resources to help the hearing impaired. A group will meet on the corner of Daisy and 20th Street Friday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. to go caroling throughout the Wrigley neighborhood. Interactive Theatre for Kids
From now until Dec. 22, the Garage Theatre is hosting its 5th Annual melodrama “Long Beach is Sinking! or Hard Time is Easier Than a Life of Injustice” by Jamie Sweet. The production lets children and audience members participate in live theatre with set painting and tomato throwing. The melodrama is at 8 p.m. on Fridays and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
