The Arts Council for Long Beach is seeking nominations for its annual Distinguished Arts Awards, which will be given out at the State of the Arts celebration on Wednesday, April 25 at the Expo Arts Center at 5pm. Members of the public are invited to nominate any artist, arts leader, arts patron or volunteer who deserves to be recognized for their contributions to the city’s cultural vibrancy.
The Arts Council will honor four exemplary individuals or organizations that have played an essential role in furthering the arts in Long Beach. These non-monetary awards are bestowed in recognition of excellence, devotion, and community contribution.
Award categories include:
• Distinguished Artist of the Year Award, which honors exemplary contributions to the Long Beach arts community by a visual, literary, or performing artist.
• Distinguished Arts Leadership Award, which honors exceptional leadership contributions to the Long Beach arts community by arts professionals in the visual, literary, or performing arts. Nominees may include arts or cultural organizations, arts-support organizations, or individual arts professionals.
• Distinguished Arts Patron or Volunteer Award, which honors superlative leadership contributions to the Long Beach arts community by an arts patron or volunteer in the visual, literary, or performing arts. Nominees should be individuals who have provided significant leadership through volunteerism and/or patronage.
• Emerging Artist or Arts Leader Award, which honors remarkable contributions to the Long Beach arts community by a visual, literary or performing artist or arts leader 25 years or younger.
