Seventh District Councilmember James Johnson hosted a concert on July 4 at 7pm in the park at California Gardens, 2745 Orange Ave. The Long Beach Junior Concert Band performed up to 22 selections, and Flattop Tom & His Jump Cats also performed. Meanwhile, 5th District Councilmember Gerrie Schipske threw the Freedom Fest at 5pm in Rosie the Riveter Park, located at the corner of Clark Avenue and Conant Street, to celebrate Independence Day.The Freedom Fest honored veterans, living and deceased, and included live music by local band The Emperors.
