Confrontation between two groups of males ends in death of 21-year-old

On Friday, July 20, at approximately 7:30pm, a shooting occurred in the area of Ohio Avenue and Anaheim Street that resulted in the death of an adult male.
The preliminary investigation indicated that two groups of males were on Ohio Avenue just south of Anaheim Street when they became involved in a confrontation. One subject from a group pulled out a gun and fired several rounds into the other group, striking one individual. That man was struck multiple times in the torso, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and pronounced deceased later in the evening. He is only being identified as a 21-year-old male, believed to be from Long Beach, until next of kin can be notified.
A motive for the shooting is undetermined, but the incident is being investigated as gang-related. No suspect information is available at this time.
