From the Page to the Stage is an educational program that shows how works of literature from historical novels to comic strips can be turned into musicals.


Musical Theatre West this summer is offering From the Page to the Stage, an educational 30-minute program that demonstrates how works of literature from historical novels to comic strips can be turned into musicals, using the theme of reading to stir the imagination. Songs from musicals ranging from Big River to You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown to Wicked to Seussical are featured.
The free show is touring the Long Beach Public Library branches thanks to the support of Southern California Edison and LA County Supervisor Don Knabe.
The remaining library tour dates are:

Tuesday, July 31 at 1pm, Los Altos Branch, 5614 East Britton Dr.
Tuesday, July 31 at 3pm, Harte Branch, 1595 West Willow St.
Thursday, Aug. 2 at 4pm, Alamitos Branch, 1836 E. 3rd St.
Friday, Aug. 3 at 3pm, Bay Shore Branch, 195 Bayshore Ave.
Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 4pm, Mark Twain Branch, 1401 E. Anaheim St.
