st-mary-grants.jpg“Charity begins at home and spreads abroad” is certainly a tenet that St. Mary Medical Center and its parent company Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) embraces. For the past 10 years, St. Mary has contributed funds along with other CHW hospitals and awarded grants to nonprofits who are working to improve the health and quality of life in their communities.
St. Mary awarded grants totaling $95,000 to California Pools of Hope, Goodwill Industries, Sexual Assault Crisis Agency, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and SuCasa Family Crisis Center.
Ike Hancock, St. Mary Foundation vice president and local CHW community grants representative said, “St. Mary is committed to the well-being of Long Beach residents. We are extremely pleased to contribute to agencies that are providing needed resources to our community.”
The recipients were hosted at a luncheon where they were recognized for their community outreach, which embodies St. Mary’s core values of excellence, collaboration, dignity, justice and stewardship.
