Emblem Club hosts 50th charity fashion show

The Long Beach Emblem Club presented its annual fashion show last Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Golden Sails Restaurant. Fashions were modeled by members of the club and relatives who strolled between the colorful tables showing off the outfits, which were provided by Specialty Boutique of Hemet.
Chairman Emily Chronister introduced president Maggie Beck, who welcomed the audience and then club chaplain Rita Catherine Knight asked the blessing.
Vice president Mary Lou Clinton acted as mistress of ceremonies for the program and introduced Cindy O’ Brien, owner of the boutique, who did the commentary as the models showed the clothing. Models at the event included Jan Munoz, Geanette Finley, Carol Clark, Jan Ignasiak, Sandi Lennon, Elaine Lundborg, Judy Zoller, Melody Tegtmeyer, Emily Scheevel and Veronica Richardson.
It was the 50th anniversary for the charity fund raiser that started when St Mary’s Hospital asked the ladies of the local charitable organization to do a fund-raising event for the hospital’s heart department. It was so successful that it has been continued through the years.
