Mayor Bob Foster, the Office of 7th District Councilmember James Johnson, the Departments of Parks, Recreation and Marine, and Public Works will host an opening event for Baker Park on Saturday, May 4 at 11am. The new 1.25-acre park is located at 625 Baker Street at Golden Avenue.
“Not only are we adding some much-needed green space, but a new park in Long Beach gives our residents more opportunities to be active and enjoy a healthier lifestyle,” said Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster.
Park amenities include picnic areas, a universally accessible playground and a walking path.
“Baker Park is the second park to open in a community that until recently had no park space at all,” Johnson said. “Thanks go to the community partners that made this park a reality.”
The park project was funded with $500,000 from the Los Angeles County Park District, $100,000 from Long Beach Container Terminal Inc. and park impact fees.
