Long Beach-based nonprofit organization The Rock Club-Rock For Vets, a music instructional/educational program for veterans and other at-risk individuals, has been named a winner in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, which awards new vehicles to 100 nonprofits based on votes from the public from Oct. 1 through Nov. 19.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program showcases five nonprofit organizations each day for 50 days at 100carsforgood.com . Visitors to the website may cast up to two votes per day for different organizations to select the organizations they feel are most deserving of a new Toyota vehicle.
The Rock Club-Rock For Vets has received the most votes and has been named as a winner of a new Toyota Sienna, which will be used to enable The Rock Club and Rock For Vets to move musical equipment and participants to perform at more locations and to perform in venues further than Long Beach and Los Angeles, without the need to hire vans and use volunteers and drivers transportation.
A press release from the nonprofit states that the organization now offers three musical-education programs, which include at-risk youth and veteran programs, that are conducted separately.
“This vehicle will be used to be able to teach music at additional locations and provide practice and learning sessions for participants of each program to learn,” states the nonprofit.
Throughout the last two years of its program, Toyota has provided 200 nonprofits with new vehicles to support the organizations’ work in the areas of disabled services, youth and educational programs, environmental services, veteran services, housing and disaster relief, among others, according to The Rock Club.
