Matthew Faulkner has been named the executive director of the Community Hospital Long Beach Foundation (CHLBF) effective immediately, after the foundation’s chair, John Koenig, made the announcment this week.
“Matthew has extensive experience in all aspects of fundraising, program and donor development,” Koening said. “We welcome Matthew to the Community Hospital Long Beach team and look forward to growing our legacy of 90 years serving the greater Long Beach community.”
Most recently, Faulkner served as director of Individual Giving for the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa. From 2004 to 2012 he was director of Development and External Relations for the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate. In 1998 Faulkner, with his wife Clare, formed the MAJEC Company, a management consulting firm specializing in nonprofit sector strategic and financial planning, program and donor development, including major gift, capital and endowment campaigns and worked extensively with national nonprofits.
Born in Cornwall, England, Faulkner and his family immigrated to the United States on the Queen Mary’s last transatlantic crossing to New York, settling in Santa Cruz. Moving to Southern California in 1981, he worked for several chambers of commerce, in Pasadena, Long Beach and Beverly Hills.
Faulkner graduated from Cabrillo College and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is currently a member of the Alamitos Heights Improvement Association. The Faulkners, who have three grown children, have resided in Long Beach since 1985.
