Red Cross gives safety education with kids summer camp

Emergencies aren’t fun, but for children, learning to deal with them can be. The Greater Long Beach Chapter (GLBC) of the American Red Cross is offering a two-day SAFE Kids Summer Day Camp that teaches life-saving skills to children ages 7 to 12.
Taught by specially trained GLBC Staff and Youth volunteers, SAFE Kids’ lessons are presented in an interactive environment with hands-on activities and games. Lessons include: emergency preparedness, basic first aid, bicycle and pedestrian safety, basic water safety, and stranger/abduction awareness. This training will earn Boy Scouts their Readyman Badge and Girl Scouts their First Aid Badge.
The camp fee is $50 per child and includes a camp T-shirt, a reference book, safety supplies, and a pizza lunch both days. The camp is from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily at the Will J. Reid Scout Camp, 4747 Daisy Avenue and the session will be August 26-27.
To register your child for a session, call (562) 490-4014 or visit Space is limited.
