Members of the U.S. Women’s Olympic Water Polo Team visited Courtyard Care Center located in Signal Hill last month before heading to Beijing. They participated in a “meet and greet” with residents and staff, a question-and-answer session and a luncheon.
At press time, the team had beaten Australia 9-8 in the semifinals and were heading for the gold medal match today.
The U.S. team is guaranteed at least a silver medal, making it the only country to garner medals in all three Olympics that have featured women’s water polo. (The U.S. team won silver in 2000 and bronze in 2004.)
