Stephen Strichart was born March 12, 1948, in Jackson Heights in Long Island, New York. He came to Long Beach when at age six and attended Tincher Elementary School, and then Hill Junior High School, where he was in the first graduating class to go all three years there. He went to Wilson High School and graduated in 1966.
On October 6, 1969, he joined the Long Beach Police Department, where he remained until his retirement 31 years later. He is a member of the Signal Hill Civil Service Commission, on the board of directors of the Long Beach Police Historical Society and is involved with Greyhound Rescue.
Initiated into Elks Lodge #888 on June 21,1993, he was an officer for two years as Assistant Inner Guard. He was a member of the Breakfast Committee, and is chairman of the Americanism and Scouting committees.
