Volunteers needed for half hour of beach cleaning

Community Action Team is looking for volunteers for this Saturday’s monthly 30-Minute Beach Cleanup in Long Beach. This is the 116th consecutive month for the cleanups.
Schools, churches, clubs, businesses, organizations, individuals and families are encouraged to participate, and all ages are welcome.
Since June of 1998, the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup has taken place every third Saturday of the month at the same time and place. The grassroots effort, led by Belmont Shore resident Justin Rudd, seeks volunteers to help create a clean and safe place on the beach. As the name of the cleanup implies, the effort lasts just thirty minutes. Volunteers progress toward the Belmont Pier and the peninsula.
The next clean-up event will be Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10am to 10:30am, on the beach at the end of Granada Avenue, at Ocean Boulevard in Belmont Shore. Free parking available at 1 Granada Avenue. Bags, gloves and volunteer credit forms will be available. Reservations are not needed. Refreshments will be provided by Duthie Power Services, and door prizes include tickets for the Aquarium of the Pacific.
For more information, contact Justin Rudd at (562) 439-3316 or visit www.BeachCleanup.org.
