Firefighters responded to a widespread fire in Anaheim Hills on the morning of Oct. 9, as several homes were evacuated. Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia wrote on his Facebook page that a Long Beach Fire Department strike team had been deployed to assist in the fire. As of press time, the Canyon 2 Fire in Anaheim Hills had burned more than 8,000 acres of land. Some evacuation orders were lifted, and the fire was roughly 50-percent contained on Wednesday, according to media outlets. Pictured is a view of the scene on Monday from Willow Springs Park, where the sky was a notable tint of orange as a result of the smoke and ash.
