Jessica Connors receives a certificate of award from State DAR Good Citizens chairman Harriett Kay.

Jessica Connors, a senior at Los Alamitos High School and winner of the Susan B. Anthony chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens award in January and the DAR District XIII award in February, has continued her winning. Her entry was selected as the most outstanding in the California State competition, and she was formally honored at the DAR State Conference in Santa Clara on March 12.
The state of California has 114 DAR chapters, all of which are eligible to sponsor students to compete for this award and scholarship. Entrants are nominated by their high schools as the outstanding student who most exemplifies the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Connors’s entry was then judged among winners from six other states at the DAR Southwestern States Division level, which she also won. She is now one of seven finalists for the national scholarship, the winner of which will receive a $3,000 scholarship award at the DAR National Convention in Washington, D.C. in July.
