Last week, the Central Neighborhood Advisory Committee (CNAC) joined the YMCA project WRAP (Winners Reach Amazing Potential) in conjunction with City of Long Beach Neighborhood Services Bureau and Family Safety Initiative Bicycle Rodeo to bring an afternoon of fun and games to children at Burnett Elementary School.
The Long Beach Explorer Post and their advisor Det. Lisa Schumaker dedicated their time to make this event a success. The Explorers were able to assist in setting up and supervising games for the 150-plus children attending.
Det. Daniel Haas and Det. SongcheakIer not only helped to man and supervise some of the events, they also brought in their “black and white” to the school grounds and visited with the children.
CNAC is a group of volunteer citizens who meet monthly with the City of Long Beach Neighborhood Improvement Strategy in order to improve the quality of life in the Sixth Council District, to make presentations, conduct forums and inform the citizens of resources available. WRAP is an after-school program of Long Beach Unified School District.
