Former professional rock musician Dr. John Prosser, currently a physician at Spring Family Medical, is starting a band to be made up of fellow doctors and medical staff. He is recruiting healthcare professionals with a musical background to play in an upcoming charity event for Miller Children’s Hospital.
Prosser played with Jerry Garcia and the Worrlocks, who then became the Grateful Dead, then, the Sons of Champlin (fronted by Bill Champlin of the band Chicago).
Prosser is partnering with The Rock Club, a company focused on helping former musicians realize their dreams of playing in a band. The Rock Club will assemble and coach the recruits for four weeks for two hours a week, preparing them to play in front of a live audience. There is no cost to join the band, and the cost of the event will be supported by local sponsors.
Prosser is seeking doctors and members of the medical industry who can sing or play guitar, bass, keys or drums and have some past musical experience, to be part of this new initiative, to rock and roll and raise funding for a worthy cause.
Apply online at the “Join Now” section at www.therockclub.net, reference “Doctors Rock.” Candidates will be chosen by August 10. Those interested in becoming a sponsor should call Katherine at (866) 597-1116.
