Commentary: SH Chamber mixing up its mixers

Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce

The goal of the Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce’s Social Committee is to increase attendance and make it fun for everyone who comes to our mixers while providing an opportunity to network and gain exposure for those members being highlighted at each month’s event. To do this, we’re making some changes in how we hold our monthly mixers.
First, the monthly mixer will now be held on the second
Thursday of each month and be called “Second Thursdays.”
Second, the mixers will be held at a different venue each month and will be open to the community– our members will also be encouraged to bring their friends, colleagues, employees, clients and adult family members
Third, mixers will be co-sponsored by the Chamber and two to four member businesses each month, depending on the size of venue.
We’ll have a goal of bringing in 100-plus attendees for each mixer (with potential to grow) so that businesses will welcome the opportunity to host an event.
At the event, each co-sponsor will be given a table (at no cost) to promote their business, services and products to those attending.
Each co-sponsor will be mentioned as such in our flyers, press releases, and a public announcement at City Council.
Each mixer will also feature an opportunity drawing for some fabulous prizes (such as free hotel stays, dinners, LCD TV, iPod, gift baskets, and other great prizes).
Our first “Second Thursdays” mixer will be on September 10 and will be hosted by the Marriot Hotel on the Pavilion Terrace from 5pm to7pm.
The Marriott is located at 4700 Airport Plaza Drive in Long Beach. [Phone

provided; a cash bar is also available. The co-sponsors for this
event are: Flowers by Rachel; Kluger Architects, Inc.; The Signal Tribune; Sprint; The Undershirt; and the U.S. Census Bureau.
Members of the Signal Hill City Council will also be attending the mixer.
Our opportunity drawing for this event will include the chance to win
free hotel stays, dinners, LCD TV, iPod, gift baskets and other great
Please support the Chamber and your fellow businesses by attending
and bringing your employees, co-workers, friends, families, and
clients. If we all do the same, the numbers will grow and the
mixers will be more beneficial to all of us.
