Some real characters expected at next First Fridays event

It will be an early Halloween at First Fridays on October 2 as Atlantic Avenue features a mixed bag of tricks and treats, as well as its own superhero and zombies.
Offered up this month will be artwork everywhere, dance performances, live theatre (much ado about Shakespeare!), guitarists, harpists, keyboards, communal drums, wacky hairdos, vintage vinyl, metals, mosaics, makeup, songwriters, photography, face mapping, zombies, costumes on the catwalk, cemetery ghosts, lunatics, scary monsters, super creeps, TV personalities, and the Knolls Ranger, with plenty of room for the strange, surreal, and spontaneous.
Participants can support local schools by feasting at local restaurants. Nino’s Italian Restaurant will host Hughes Middle School, and Red Brick Pizza will be hosting Longfellow Elementary by offering 20 percent of the bill back to the schools. Parents and children are encouraged to dress up as zombies for dinner to add a little more “flavor” to the night. Make-up stations will be available for all who wish to be zombie-fied for the art walk after eating. Other participating venues will be:
