This year, the spirit of giving starts with some laughs, chuckles and a few guffaws, as, for the seventh year, top comedians are performing to collect toys for underprivileged kids for the holiday season.
This year’s charity is For the Child, which provides comprehensive child-abuse treatment and family-focused mental health care, counseling, and therapy to strengthen families and provide the tools of healing to children.
Several nationally touring comics will be donating the funny to the show. They have appeared on The Tonight Show and other late-night shows, as well as on Comedy Central and in movies. Currently scheduled are Kira Soltanovich, Vic Dunlop, Mark Wilde, Laura Hayden, Jaz Kaner, Celeste Davis and others. (The show’s content ranges from PG- to R-rated humor, so it would not be appropriate for young children.)
The Toys for Laughs show will take place Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8pm at the Lakewood Elks Lodge, 12507 Carson St. Admission is at least one unwrapped toy valued at $5 or more. Free secured parking in the rear of the building available.
For reservations call the Lodge (562) 924-5744.
