Holiday lighting events planned

November 30th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

The cities of Long Beach and Signal Hill will be ringing in the holiday season with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Discovery Well Park, 2200 Temple Avenue, in Signal Hill, on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 6pm.
The Wireless Communication Antenna Tower Holiday Tree will be lit as Kris Kringle makes a guest appearance. Entertainment will be provided by the Wilson High School Choir, and holiday cookies and hot drinks will be served.
The event will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
The 2nd Annual Bixby Knolls Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony will take place at the First Fridays event on Dec. 4, at the fountains of Nino’s Italian Restaurant, 3835 Atlantic Ave. Music and entertainment will begin at 6pm, and the tree lighting will follow at 6:30pm. Hot chocolate will be served.
Since it is a “community tree,” the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association is encouraging tree decorations from area businesses, schools, and residents. Ornaments can either be dropped off at the BKBIA office, 4313 Atlantic Ave., prior to Dec. 4, or brought to the tree-lighting ceremony.
