GOOD TASTE
Downtown Long Beach Associates will host the first Taste of Downtown at the Waterfront Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 25 from 6pm to 9pm. Downtown restaurants will set out their best fare at the band shell at Pine Avenue Circle so that participants may stroll from table to table and sample all that Downtown restaurants have to offer. Tickets will be on sale at the event, $1 for 1 ticket or $10 for a booklet of 12 tickets. Those who buy two booklets or more will receive a free ticket to the Aquarium of the Pacific. Tables and seating will be provided, but attendees may bring their own chair or blanket and enjoy the ocean view, while live music fills the air. Visit dlba.org.

NOT A WASTE OF TIME
The County of Los Angeles, the Department of Public Works and area sanitation districts will present a Hazardous Waste and e-Waste Roundup on Saturday, March 27 from 9am to 3pm at Long Beach Veterans Stadium, corner of Clark Avenue and Conant Street. EGG-TIVITIES
The City of Signal Hill will sponsor Spring Fest 2010 on Saturday, April 3 from 9am to noon at Signal Hill Park, 2175 Cherry Ave. Free events will include: egg hunts for children; SHPD will issue child identification cards; L.A. Fire Department Station 60 will have their fire truck on display; and the Signal Hill Library will conduct activities. A wristband for $1 will allow children access to additional activities, including airbrush artist, balloon artist, crafts, games, and jumper. The egg hunt schedule will be as follows: 9:30am– ages 3 and 4; 10am– ages 5 and 6; 10:30am– ages 7 and 8; and 11am– ages 9 and 10. Each child must bring his or her own basket or bag to gather eggs. HERSTORY
The League of Women Voters, Long Beach Area, will present a program celebrating Women’s History Month at their monthly meeting on Saturday, March 20 from 10am to noon, at Los Altos Library, 5614 Britton Drive. The meeting program will include a women’s history trivia quiz and a presentation about women’s place in U.S. society “by the numbers.” The main event will be a panel featuring the League’s longest serving members discussing and taking questions from the audience about the momentous social and political changes they have witnessed and in which they have participated during the last 50 years. NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews, Union Bank, Operation Hope and Olive Court Condominiums will host a Homebuyers Workshop on Saturday, March 27, from 10am to 1pm, at the Union Bank Building, 1900 Atlantic Ave., 2nd floor. Representatives will be on site to teach all the steps to become a homeowner. The workshop will discuss financial counseling, buying and selling a home, improving your credit score, creating budgets and how to finance home improvements. THE NEXT SUPPER
The Bixby Knolls Supper Club’s next meal will be at the Long Beach Petroleum Club, 3636 Linden Ave. on Monday, April 5 at 6:30pm. Reservations required by emailing info@bixbyknollsinfo.com. A MATTER OF TIME
The Questing Heirs Genealogical Society of the surrounding Long Beach area will have its regular meeting on Sunday, April 18 at 1:15pm.  Nancy Huebotter will discuss keeping timelines and researching cemetery and mortuary records. The meeting is free, open to the public and will take place at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1900 E. Carson St. After the presentations, a beginning genealogy class will start.
