April 30th, 2010 · No Comments · News

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has designated $5 million for a fund covering schools and related sites, such as daycare facilities.
Applications for the “Schools and Related Sites” grant program are now available for downloading at polb.com/grants.
To help individuals and organizations apply to this first round of grants, the Port has scheduled two workshops:
• 4pm on Thursday, May 6 at Silverado Park, 1545 W. 31st St.
• 7pm on Tuesday, May 11 in the Main Library meeting room, 101 Pacific Ave.
The deadline is Monday, June 14.
The Port grant programs are designed to address community health impacts from port-related air and noise pollution. There are two other grant programs, also with $5 million each, which will be launched at later dates.
For information on eligibility, go to the Port Grant Programs website at polb.com/grants, email grants@polb.com or call 1-888-789-GRANT (1-888-789-4726).
