SUMMER STROLL KICK-OFF
The Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association will host its Third Annual Summer Solstice Stroll Saturday, June 19. Meet at Rancho Los Cerritos, 4600 N. Virginia Rd., at 6:15pm; the stroll begins promptly at 6:30pm. No dogs allowed for the 3.5-mile walk through the neighborhood. After the stroll, participants will be treated to ice cream, cookies, watermelon, and cold drinks, and may then sit on the lawn or stroll the gardens; the rancho will be open for self-guided tours. CLIMB YOUR FAMILY TREE
The Questing Heirs Genealogical Society of Long Beach and surrounding communities will have their free public monthly meeting on Sunday, June 20 at 1:15pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1900 E. Carson St. Speaker will be Barbara Renick, an expert on computers, who will give presentations on “How You Get There Does Make a Difference” and “Ask & Ye Shall Receive Help Online.” Free parking available across the street. ON THE GREEN
St. Anthony High School will host its 27th Annual Golf Classic and Dinner/Auction fundraising event Monday, June 21 to benefit the high school’s athletic programs, at Recreation Park Golf Course, 5001 Deukmejian Dr. Following the tournament, which begins at 9am, both golfers and non-golfers are invited to attend the reception/dinner/auction at 4:30pm at the Clubhouse on the green. Live music provided by Steel Drum Parade, dinner starting at 5pm, raffle, silent and live auctions. Evening-only cost: $35 per guest. All alumni and community friends are welcome. WANA KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON IN WRIGLEY?
The next meeting of the Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance (WANA) will be Monday, June 21 at 7pm at Veterans Park Community Center, 101 E. 28th St. Free parking and refreshments available. Featured speakers will be Felton Williams, who will provide an update on LBUSD issues, and representatives from the Redevelopment Agency, who will report on the planned improvements to Pacific Avenue in Wrigley Village and the re-modeling plans for 520 Willow St.

VICTIMS NEEDED
St. Mary Medical Center and various other Long Beach health and safety organizations will conduct a multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency drill for which they need 50 to 100 volunteers to act as victims during a mock Port disaster. The goal is to test St. Mary’s ability to decontaminate a large number of victims of a chemical/radiological event. The exercise will take place Tuesday, June 22 from 9am to noon at St. Mary’s, 1050 Linden Ave. Call (562) 491-9000.

A TOAST!
The Diagonal Toastmasters Club, which meets every Thursday from 6:15pm to 7:30pm at 545 E. Bixby Rd., is conducting a membership drive in which it hopes to increase membership by 25 percent. GRAB A FORK!
The Knights of Columbus Council 3449 invite the public to join them for a spaghetti dinner on Friday, June 25, in the St. Barnabas Parish Hall located at 3955 Orange Ave. Hosted by the ladies auxiliary, the meal will feature different kinds of pasta and sauces at $7 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under. The price includes salad, breadsticks and a soft drink. The dinner is from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, and take-out is available.

FILM FEST FRIDAYS
As part of its adult summer reading program, the Los Altos Neighborhood Library, 5614 E. Britton Dr., will present a Friday Film Festival series on Fridays at 1pm from July 9 through Aug. 27, focusing on books made into films. Call (562) 570-1045.

CALLING ALL BOOKWORMS
The Dana Neighborhood Library Book Club meets the second Saturday of every month. Join neighbors to discuss this month’s book choice, On the Road by Jack Kerouac, on Saturday, July 10 from 10am to 11am. The Dana Library is located at 3680 Atlantic Ave. Call (562) 570-1042.
