Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal (D–Long Beach) received the highest award bestowed by the California League of Conservation Voters, a non-partisan advocacy group for California’s environment, during a ceremony Tuesday near the State Capitol Building.
The League, which scores legislators every year for their performance on environmental legislation, praised Lowenthal for her perfect score on such legislation during her first year in Sacramento and her continued dedication to environmental issues throughout California.
“It always seems odd to get an award for doing things you feel so strongly about,” said Lowenthal, who represents the 54th District, one of the regions most impacted by air pollution in California. “It just seems like the right thing to do, especially in my district.”
