LB junior crew captures national title at US Rowing Youth National Championships

The Long Beach Junior Crew team recently brought home a national title, as well as silver and bronze medals from the 16th Annual US Rowing Youth National Championships on Larsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio.
The gold medal and championship trophy for the women’s quad was brought back to Long Beach for the second time in three years. The winners were Rebeca Felix of San Marino High School, Mackenzi Sherman of Hope Christian Academy, Heather Snead of Long Beach Poly High, and Ally Wilches of Wilson High. The alternate was Zoe Irish of Poly High.
LBJC’s women’s lightweight four finished fourth: Cylina Villareal of Wilson High, Sara Mores of Wilson High, Sarah Arcos of Poly, and Brea Wiley of Poly. Coxswain was Kaila Garza of Millikan High.
The women’s lightweight double finished in eighth place: Sarah Arcos and Brea Wiley, both of Poly.
A silver medal was earned in the women’s double by Rebeca Felix of San Marino High School and Mackenzi Sherman of Hope Christian Academy. The LBJC men’s lightweight double also won bronze medals: Matt McGlynn of Servite High, and Greg Hawkins of Peninsula High.
The men’s quad finished in eighth place: Robbie Perrot of Los Alamitos High, Nick McCutcheon of Mater Dei, Frank Gasztonyi Loyola, and Hogan Hiatt of Servite.
