The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced the graduation of seven Police Explorers and two Police Cadets from the Summer 2007 Basic Explorer Academy hosted by the Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Academy Advisor’s Association on August 16.
The ceremony took place at the Garden Grove Community Center, located at 11300 Stanford Street in Garden Grove.
The primary goal of the LBPD is to teach the Explorers and Cadets to be proficient in the duties they will be performing and give them the opportunity to learn about career opportunities available in the field of law enforcement.
“Each Explorer and Cadet is physically and mentally challenged to achieve his or her highest level of performance. They are evaluated individually and learn the value of teamwork and cooperation, gaining a stronger sense of pride, self-confidence and self-esteem,” said the police department in a press release.
The Long Beach Police Department Explorer and Cadet Programs is focused on instilling discipline and preparing young people for a law enforcement career with the Long Beach Police Department.
