On Friday, Feb. 18, more than 50 guests, including city and state representatives, community leaders and Long Beach Unified School District personnel, gathered at The Children’s Clinic Family Health Center at Hamilton Middle School (TCC/HMS) to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new state-of-the-art health center scheduled to open this June. Since its inception seven years ago, TCC/HMS has been providing comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services to Hamilton students and siblings from neighboring elementary schools, and Jordan High School students, as well as their families and community members. In 2010 TCC/HMS, despite limited resources, size and capacity, provided more than 4,984 visits to over 1,543 children, adolescents and adults. The expansion will increase the number of exam rooms from four to eight, and the center, which will include a dispensary, nursing station, restrooms and an ample lobby, is expected to increase access to services by 1,811 patients over 5,794 visits.
