Pit bull shot after aggressively approaching officers

At approximately 10:37pm, on Friday, Feb. 18, officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to a call that shots had been fired in the 2400 block of Pasadena Avenue. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with three male subjects in a yard off of an alley in the area. The subjects fled into a residence, and, as officers moved toward the property, an adult pit bull approached them in an aggressive manner, resulting in an officer-involved-shooting.
The dog was transported to a veterinary hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound and is in stable condition.
