On Saturday, Feb. 19, at approximately 3:03am, three officers from the Long Beach Police Department were transported to a local hospital after a suspected drunk driver collided with their vehicles in the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 6th Street.
Two officers in one vehicle were traveling northbound, while an officer in another vehicle was traveling southbound on Atlantic Avenue. All were uniformed and in their marked police vehicles. A motorist driving a Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on 6th Street at a high rate of speed failed to stop at the red light and entered the intersection, causing the three-vehicle collision.
All three officers, as well as the suspect, were brought to local hospitals, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was arrested and has been identified as 43-year-old David Trevino, a resident of Long Beach.
Those with additional information regarding this incident are asked to call Long Beach Police Department Accident Investigations Detective Brian Watt at (562) 570-7355.
