Long Beach Heritage’s annual Loft Walk this year will feature the International Tower, the cylindrical “soda pop” building across from the Villa Riviera on Ocean Boulevard. The event will begin at 5pm on Saturday, March 12 and include viewings of a half dozen homes, appetizers and drinks. In addition, there will be talks on the history of Long Beach during the 1960s, mid-century modern architecture, and the revolutionary structural engineering of the International Tower.Built in the mid-1960s, the International Tower is one of the most significant buildings in Long Beach for its architectural design and innovative technology. With sweeping views of the city, the building is also associated with the Grand Prix and elaborate celebrity parties. A number of movies and television shows have filmed there as well, including Lethal Weapon and CSI: Miami.
Loft-walk ticket buyers will be able to take advantage of discounts at local restaurants and enjoy a cupcake birthday celebration at 7:30pm.
