Long Beach Schools Financial Credit Union has awarded scholarships to 30 students in Long Beach, Lakewood, Cerritos and surrounding communities.
Each year LBS Financial encourages local area high schools, adult schools and community colleges to participate in its scholarship program by recommending students for an award. This year, 26 high school, two college and two adult school students were awarded scholarships.
“Our relationships with the school districts and colleges in the community began with our original charter as an educational credit union in 1935,” said LBS Financial’s President and CEO Jeffrey A. Napper. “Providing scholarships to local students is just one way we can continue to add value to our neighborhoods, minimizing the financial burden for many families.”
Throughout May and June 2008, scholarships were presented, along with a plaque, to students at their school’s award ceremony.
