CALLING FRIENDS OF FIDO AND FLUFFY

MEASURE FOR MEASURE
The Long Beach League of Women Voters will present an in-depth look at several of the more lengthy and complex measures on the November 4 ballot: Propositions 1a, 6, 7, 9 and 11. The Friends of the Signal Hill Library will feature a “Panel of 4 Latina Women Authors” for its quarterly Author Talk & Book Signing on Monday, October 20 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Signal Hill Park Community Center, 1780 East Hill Street. Four women writers will discuss their books, backgrounds, and inspirations for their writings, which include a unique falling-in-love story, a body-switching comedy, a tragic narrative replete with adversity, and a magical coming-of-age story. SCARING OFF SCAMS, FIGHTING FRAUD

COMPARING CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES
Concerned Citizens of Signal Hill (CCSH) and the Signal Tribune are cosponsoring a 37th District Congressional forum Wednesday, October 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The forum will take place at the Signal Hill Community Center, 1780 E. Hill Street. Parking is free and plentiful. Refreshments will be provided. Alan Tolkoff will be moderating the event. All five candidates have accepted the invitation: Laura Richardson, incumbent/Democrat/on the ballot; Nick Dibs, Independent/on the ballot; Peter Mathews/Democrat/write-in; Lee Davis/Democrat/write-in; and June Pouesi (sounds like Poy-zee)/Republican /write-in. Attendees are encouraged to provide written questions for candidates. Neither CCSH, the Signal Tribune, nor Alan Tolkoff will be endorsing any of the candidates.
