The Long Beach Area Boy Scout Council has just kicked off their annual Popcorn Blitz. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts all over Long Beach, Lakewood, Catalina and Bellflower are starting to go door-to-door or are staking their claims at the fronts of grocery stores selling popcorn to fund their scouting activities.
In addition to selling popcorn, they are working hard to solicit donations for the “Heroes Helping Heroes” Popcorn Program. This program allows a donor to make a $25 popcorn donation, which will be sent to United States troops and their families serving all around the world. Last year, Scouts throughout the U.S. raised enough funds to send 300 tons of popcorn to our troops overseas.
Those interested in donating $25 to the program can contact the Long Beach Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America Office at (562) 427-0911 x 243 or by mailing their donation to:
Long Beach Area Council
Boy Scouts of America
401 East 37th Street
Long Beach, CA 90807
Attn: Heroes Helping Heroes
As a special recognition for the $25 donation, the council is providing limited edition donor pins to those who support the program and special patch recognition to the scout for their service.
