MTW gets two Best Musical Ovation noms for first time

October 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Musical Theatre West has received 16 2008 Ovation Award nominations, including two Best Musical nominations, an unprecedented achievement in the company’s 55-year history. The nominations were announced by LA Stage Alliance in a ceremony at the Ebony Repertory Theater in Los Angeles. The Ovation Awards are the only peer-judged theatre awards in Los Angeles and are considered the highest-profile contest for local theatre by the Los Angeles Times. The Ovation Awards present an opportunity for the theatre community to join together and focus public attention on the rich and lively performing arts scene in Southern California, and to draw national attention to the quality and quantity of professional theatre in Los Angeles.

“We are especially delighted that All Shook Up and The Andrews Brothers, two very new musicals, were nominated in the Best Musical category. We are encouraged that our commitment to bringing newer works to the community has been so generously acknowledged by our peers” said Steven Glaudini, Musical Theatre West’s Associate Artistic Director.
Winners will be announced on November 17, 2008 at the Harriet & Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex at Cal State Los Angeles. The ceremony will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.
