SHPD to prepare public for emergencies

The Signal Hill Police Department will be hosting an emergency preparedness fair, highlighting the importance of emergency awareness in the event of a major disaster, such as a significant earthquake. The event will take place on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jessie Nelson Circle.
The police department will be joined by Los Angeles County Fire, Care Ambulance Service, Red Cross, Long Beach Community Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Willow Urgent Care, Long Beach Animal Control, as well as other emergency service Providers.
Emergency equipment from all emergency response agencies will be available during the fair for public viewing. Signal Hill Community Services Department will have emergency provisional backpacks available for purchase.
The police department will also be providing and accepting applications for the position of police recruit. A written exam for the position will be given at 1 p.m. in the Signal Hill Community Center. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the event.
