EGGS WITH THE ELKS
The Bellflower/Long Beach Elks Lodge # 888, 16426 Bellflower Blvd. in Bellflower, invites the public to its monthly breakfast on Sunday, November 30, from 8 am to noon. Admission is $5.50 per person for the buffet-style breakfast, which includes eggs as you like them, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, assorted fruit, Belgian waffles and coffee.
AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE MALL
St. Barnabas Religious Education, 3955 Orange Avenue, will host a holiday boutique from 8 am to 2 pm on Sunday, Nov. 30. Vendors will be selling different types of products, including crafts, accessories, gourmet foods, etc. There will also be refreshments, a bake sale and a raffle. A HOLIDAY TIME CAPSULE
Step back in time to Christmas 1850 at Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site as you explore holiday traditions and life in early California with the Temples, their guests and ranch workers. Rancho Los Cerritos, 4600 Virginia Road, will host Christmas Candlelight Tours: Navidad in Early California Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The rancho is located northwest of the intersection of San Antonio Drive and Long Beach Boulevard. Cost is $10 per person and $8 for members (children 3 and under are free). Reservations required. A HARSH CONCEPTION?
Long Beach SDA Church, 1001 East Third Street, is hosting a Christmas musical theatre presentation with Harsh Moments!, a contemporary production of the biblical account of Mary’s and Joseph’s attempt to have a baby that is met with disappointments and obstacles. The production will take place Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 pm, and admission is free.
HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS
Santa Claus will arrive by yacht to Parkers’ Lighthouse in Shoreline Village, 435 Shoreline Village Drive, on Saturday, Dec. 6. for a breakfast fundraising event from 8 am to 11 am to benefit Miller Children’s Hospital. Children can visit and take pictures with Santa while enjoying breakfast with breathtaking views of the harbor and the Queen Mary. Breakfast is $8.95 for adults and $6.95 for children under 12. A VICTORIAN CELEBRATION
The Banning Museum, 401 East M Street in Wilmington, is inviting the public to a Victorian Christmas celebration from 11 am to 4 pm Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7. THE FAMILY THAT MAKES ART TOGETHER…
The Signal Hill Cultural Arts (FOSHCA) is hosting a Family Art Making Workshop on Sunday, December 7 at Discovery Well Park, 2200 Temple Avenue, from 2 pm to 4 pm. FOSHCA has planned a holiday project for children ages 4 to 15 years and their family members. The free workshop provides families the opportunity to spend an afternoon utilizing their creativity while promoting an appreciation for the arts. All children must be accompanied by an adult. AN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIR
The Friends of Languages, an associate group of the Long Beach City College Foundation that offers scholarships to students who are engaged in the study of foreign languages or learning English as a second language, is hosting “A Victorian Holiday” fundraiser Sunday, Dec. 7 from 2 pm to 5 pm in a lavish Tudor home built in 1931. The Long Beach City College Carolers will perform at 3:30 pm. There will be refreshments, international goodies, varietal wines, gift baskets, opportunity prizes and a silent auction.
