January 12th, 2009 · No Comments

Belmont Shore Business Association (BSBA) is proud to announce the 5th Annual Belmont Shore Community Chocolate Festival taking place Saturday, February 7 from 1pm to 4pm. A chocolate lover’s dream, the Belmont Shore Chocolate Festival is a delicious community event that allows participants to sample an enticing array of chocolate treats provided by participating Belmont Shore merchants.

Tickets purchased in books of 12 allow attendees to “buy” their chocolate of choice. Ticket books will be sold for $10 during the event in front of Washington Mutual (5200 E. Second St.). Tickets may also be purchased starting February 1 at the following Belmont Shore Businesses: Archibald’s (4600 E. 2nd St.), La Strada (4716 E. 2nd St.), Mail Boxes Etc. (5318 E. 2nd St.) and Sweet Jill’s (5224 E. 2nd St.)
The community can get involved by entering the Homemade Chocolate Dessert Contest (2pm–3pm). A panel of judges will choose the winners in the following categories: Chocolate Pies and Cakes, Chocolate Cookies and Brownies, and Unique Chocolate Treats. Trophies will be presented to winners at 4pm adjacent to the dessert tent on Corona Avenue just south of Second Street. Entry forms are available online at www.belmontshore.org and by calling the BSBA office (562) 434-3066. Cost to enter is $10. Deadline is February 5.
Another way to get involved is by diving face first into a chocolate cream pie in the Chocolate Pie Eating Contest held on Corona Avenue (south of Second Street) beginning at 3pm. Participants must be six years of age or older and may register prior to the contest at the dessert tent on Corona Ave. Eight seats will be available in each of the five categories: ages 6–8, 9–11, 12–14, 15–17, and adults 18+. Trophies will be awarded to the contestants that finish their pie first. The contest is free to enter. For more information and entry forms for the Homemade Chocolate Dessert Contest visit www.BelmontShore.org.
