Joint Forces Training Base welcomes public for fireworks show

July 3rd, 2009 · No Comments · Community

The 22nd Annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will take place on Saturday, July 4 at the Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in Los Alamitos. The cities of Los Alamitos, Cypress, Seal Beach, the Community of Rossmoor, and the Joint Forces Training Base collaborate to host this annual event to honor the men and women of the military and celebrate our country’s 233rd birthday.
This year, the base gates will open at 2pm in honor of Brigadier General James Combs’s retirement and change of command at the Joint Forces Training Base. The event will include free activities such as military displays, a World War II reenactment, and entertainment on the main stage featuring the 40th Infantry Division Band. Also, for a minimal cost, participants can enjoy an extensive Kids Fun Zone and food from several food vendors in the Patriot’s Picnic areas, receive information from vendors in the JFTB Freedom Village Vendor Fair, and have a chance to win money by entering the 50/50 raffle. There will be flybys from military aircraft, before the event’s climax at 9pm with one of the longest fireworks displays in Southern California.
This function is free to anyone wishing to attend. Everyone over the age of 16 entering the Joint Forces Training Base must present photo identification at the main gate. A parent must accompany children and those who do not have photo ID. Lawn chairs and blankets are highly encouraged, as there is no bleacher seating. Alcohol, dogs and fireworks are not permitted at this event and free parking is available; motor homes are not allowed on the base.
