Long Beach will celebrate Veterans Day on Saturday, November 7, beginning with the 13th Annual Long Beach Veterans Day Parade at 10am.
The parade, featuring military vehicles, ROTC groups, equestrians, drill teams and marching bands will proceed south on Atlantic Avenue from Harding Street to 56th Street, make a U-turn and return to the step-off point at Houghton Park.
Grand marshals for the parade will be Airborne Ranger Hall of Fame member Ramon Rodriguez and Officer Chris Martin, a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
“This year’s celebration is three events in one,” said event coordinator Martha Thuente. “We start with the parade…followed by the Second Annual Freedom Walk in Support of our Troops, and conclude the day’s activity with a Vendor Fair from 10am to 4pm at Houghton Park.”
Again this year, Paramount Petroleum Corporation is a major sponsor of the Veterans Day Celebration. Additional sponsors and vendors are still being sought for the celebration.
