David Shindledecker has been selected as January Elk of the Month for the Long Beach/Bellflower Lodge No. 888. Shindledecker was born in 1948 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
He came to Long Beach in 1957 and attended Burbank Elementary School and Jefferson Junior High School. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High in 1966. After school, he worked at McDonell-Douglas and then for Plains All-American Pipeline.
Initiated into Lodge No. 888 on May 18, 1981, he served as exalted ruler in 2004–2005 and again in 2008–2009.
